My First Week

Emma found her hands this week and had her first bath. She doesn't like the bath part very much but loves having her hair washed and head massaged. Emma is also doing a fabulous job of lifting and holding her head on her own.

From Baby Doctor to Glow Worm

Before coming home we found out that Emma had
a high bilirubin level caused by the break-down of red
blood cells. Nothing dangerous but the hospital sent us
home with a Bilibed for Emma to sleep on for the night
that will help break down the bilirubin. She'll get re-checked
Friday at her pediatrician follow-up.

She gets to wear little baby scrubs while in the machine that
keep her centered on the light. It's been hard since she has to
spend as much time in the bed as possible so mom and dad have
been limited to holding Emma during feedings and diaper changes.

Coming Home

Emma passed her tests and got to come home on Thursday. We packed the car full of stuff from the hospital and realized that we already need to get a bigger car because with all the gifts that seem to accumulate around Emma there is no room for all the other stuff.

Visitors at the Hospital

It was a busy time at the hospital but we were blessed to have visits from family and friends. Unfortunately Tuesday was such a blur that we didn't get pictures with with Grandma and Grandpa Peters, Greatgrandma Banta, Uncle Steve or Liz.

Thank you all for coming to see Emma during her first couple days

Emma's first photos

Here are the first couple photos of Emma.
She has mostly spent the day sleeping but has had a couple hours of activity moving her head a little and scoping out her surroundings.

She has been the perfect baby...if only she could stay this way for about 2 years.

Emma Cathryn makes her debut

Today our beautiful baby daughter decided that she could no longer wait to be with us and was born at 6:05 am.

She has a bright future ahead of her...especially considering that she is 25% Irish and born on St. Patrick's Day
